Trump’s First 100 Days and The FCC

Under President Trump’s second term, the FCC has prioritized deregulation and increased executive oversight. A major initiative launched in March 2025, titled “In Re: Delete, Delete, Delete,” seeks to eliminate regulations considered outdated or burdensome. Additionally, a February executive order now requires independent agencies like the FCC to submit proposed regulations for White House review, enhancing presidential control over agency actions.

Brendan Carr, appointed FCC Chairman in January 2025, has led efforts to revisit net neutrality and reexamine Section 230, which governs online content moderation. The FCC has also launched investigations into media organizations, including CBS, drawing attention to the agency’s growing role in media oversight. These actions have sparked debate about regulatory priorities, executive influence, and the potential impact on press freedom.
